Sex and the City 2 Fashion Review

While I found Sex and the City to be a little short on the drama, it did not disappoint on the fashion front. Most of the film was set in Abu Dhabi and the outfits reflected the over-the-top oppulence. The fab four wear lots of headscarves, turbans, long skirts, and of course, fabulous shoes. The following are a some of my favorites. The first outfit worn by Carrie is super-chic. The white dress is Halston Heritage (SJP is the creative director), the clutch is Chanel and the shoes are glittery gold Christian Louboutin Pigalle pumps.

My favorite outfit that Samantha wears is the red Lady Gaga-esque spiked shoulder ensemble she has on for the karaoke scene. I couldn't figure out who the designer is, but Rihanna also wore it, with a lot more cleavage, and I don't think she quite pulled it off as well as Kim Catrall.

Charlotte has some of the cutest outfits in the movie, including the Gianfranco Ferre suit she wears with a Chanel scarf for the plane ride to Abu Dhabi and the pink and white Oscar de la Renta dress she wears towards the end of the film, but unfortunately I couldn't find pictures of most of them! This outfit is a little matchy-matchy for me, but the Oscar de la Renta dress is still really cute.

My favorite shoes from the movie are these studded pale purple Brian Atwood platforms worn by Carrie, but sadly, they are not shown in the film! Not sure about the outfit she pairs them with, though. Anyway, she wears them at brunch with the girls.

Oooh, I want these SOOO bad!!!! They are sold out everywhere, though.

They payed a little homage to the TV series by having Carrie wear the Dior newpaper print dress from Season 3, when Carries interrupts Natasha's lunch. She pairs it with some amazing lace Christian Louboutin heels for her date night with Mr. Big, in a cute scene that harkens back to the early days of Big and Carrie.

One of my favorite scenes for the sheer ridiculousness of it, is when the girls all walk over a sand dune in the middle of the dessert, totally decked out, from head to toe. FYI the girls change outfits 3 times during their day in the dunes.

At the beginning of the film there is a flashback to when the girls first met each other. Turns out, they were all just as dedicated to fashion then.

Charlotte of course is preppy to the max, in what looks like a Lilly Pulitzer skirt and Carrie, no surprise, is emulating Madonna.

Miranda is very Working Girl with giant shoulder pads and a terrible haircut. Samantha is decked out in painted on acid-wash jeans with BIG hair.

All in all, while I don't think the movie was as good as it could have been, the fashion did not disappoint. Sometimes I wish people dressed like this in real life.
